Fresh tattoo: follow your artist

A new tattoo is an open wound for the first days and needs clean, simple care. Cosmetic gels are not sterile wound products, and fragranced or botanical formulas can irritate. Follow the aftercare instructions from your tattoo artist or a healthcare professional.

Once it has healed

When the skin has fully closed and stopped peeling, a fragrance-free cactus gel can be a light, cooling moisturiser, especially in summer. Layer a cream on top if the area feels dry.

Protect the colour

UV fades tattoo ink. Once healed, protect tattoos with clothing or broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Spreading redness, warmth, pus, fever or red streaks are warning signs of infection. Seek medical care.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put cactus gel on a healed tattoo?

Yes. Once fully healed, a fragrance-free gel can be part of keeping the skin hydrated. Sunscreen helps protect tattoo colour.

What are signs of tattoo infection?

Increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, fever or red streaks. Contact a doctor promptly.
