The honest answer

A chilled cactus gel can make under-eye skin feel refreshed and may temporarily reduce the look of morning puffiness, mainly because of the cold. It hydrates the thin skin there. It does not erase dark circles, bags or wrinkles.

How to use it safely

  1. Keep the gel in the fridge.
  2. With your ring finger, tap a rice-grain amount along the orbital bone, under the eye.
  3. Stay away from the lash line, eyelids and the eye itself.
  4. Follow with your usual eye cream if you use one, then sunscreen in the morning.

Boost the cooling effect

A clean, chilled ice roller or cold spoon pressed gently for a minute adds to the de-puffing feel. Keep tools clean.

When to see a doctor

Sudden swelling, puffiness in one eye only, itching, redness or pain can signal allergy, infection or other conditions. Get it checked.

Frequently asked questions

Can cactus gel remove dark circles?

No evidence shows it does. Dark circles are often due to genetics, thin skin, shadows or pigmentation, which a gel will not change.

Is it safe to use cactus gel near the eyes?

Use a tiny amount on the orbital bone, not on the eyelid or into the eye. Choose fragrance-free formulas. Rinse with water if it gets in your eye.
